I find it an odd peculiarity that ministers who get fired still feel.it necessary to.write resignation letters
Not something we'd do in any other profession is it?

No.

Seeing freedom as an end in itself is definitely not leading to an epidemic of depression.

Now you’re just talking bollocks.

Wils - I wouldn't bother mate, he's a lost cause and a room-temperature IQ mid-wit at best.

On another note, just saw Braverman's letter to Prime Miniature Sunak. Fucking hell, she didn't hold back. He is going to own the SC decision this week and have to eat crow or fuck off

Re: Remembrance day, WTF!
"you don’t like those freedoms?"

That's not quite what I said. Seeing freedom as an end in itself, particularly as substitute or justification for absence of religion (although I would argue people are actually religious as ever, just adrift of formal doctrine- read Nietzsche if you want to be truly free of Christianity, otherwise you are still swimming in Christian waters) is leading people into misery as evidence by the epidemic in depression and relative thriving of those who remain religious. I don't wish to deprive you of any freedoms.

Hammer and Pickle 8:37 Tue Nov 14
Re: Remembrance day, WTF!
You don’t like those freedoms? Well I’m glad to say that thanks to the secular society that’s your choice. And that also means you don’t have the legal right deny my enjoyment of those freedoms, however much you falsely claim they are making me suffer.

Re: Remembrance day, WTF!
"it has contributed to building a degree of freedom and prosperity unprecedented in history."

Even if that was true - I would argue the opposite - understanding freedom as an end in itself is what has brought on this misery. Freedom to identify as what you want, freedom from what's is perceived as out dated sexual morality (Louise Perry's book on the sexual revolution is good on this), freedom from the constraints of child rearing. All of it seductive to a midwit but toxic to the human condition. Look at the people thriving around you, religious people are over represented in nearly every sphere from the football pitch to the boardroom. None of that proves the existence of God or the truth of any particular religion, but my point is thinking that you are superior or society is improved where religious observance declines is wishful thinking.

A characteristic of the West is a division between the secular public sphere and the world of personal belief and religion. And yes, I am ready to argue that does make people in the West more rational and it has contributed to building a degree of freedom and prosperity unprecedented in history.

Wils 8:00 Tue Nov 14
Re: Remembrance day, WTF!
And lack of religion (if that's even possible as it just takes less formal forms: see Wokeism) gains you what? Makes people more rational? Is that what you see around you in this secular society? Or are people filling their Sundays with deep and meaningful things like shopping and watching their families disintegrate around them as they pop increasing amounts of anti-depressants?

You may not believe and you may have a very good reasons to want to grind your axe against X religion but spare me the smugness that it's ushered in a better, happier society as that's not what I see when I look at modern secular west.

Right on brother! See you’ve changed your views on a women’s right to abortion and the Catholic Church’s atrocious record of abuse and paedophlia in its foster homes around the globe.

Hate speech a crime only punishable if you are white.

Fuck off with your weak pathetic acceptance of allowing the Gov’t to choose who can say what.

Calling out religion and peoples warped fucked up interpretation of it is a much needed right of the people. To simply be forced to sit back and have to tolerate the Nonsense that some believe is fucking mental.

Fuck all those who use “hate speech” and “systemic racism” in their vocabulary. You are all a bunch of retards, and those that allow it and are intimidated by it are the bigger retards.

Time to get some common sense back.

And?

Is their faith in their own religion so weak that it cannot survive against a few "nasty words" spoken about it?

Not much of a religion that, if that's the case, and even less faith.

You do recognise that, these days, dissing somebody's religious beliefs = upsetting their feels = hate crime.

The more religiously pious you are, the more entitled you are to protection/revenge/whatever.

It's all a bit "MY god is better than your god.". You'd think we were living back in 1023, not 2023, with such thinking.

MOST people were not there for a ruck. They were there expressing their beliefs. It doesnt matter if yoi agree with them or not. Its what a liberal democracy allows. That is tge difference between us and those who dont allow it.

Anyone pissed off with the terrorist supporting marches would do well attend this one. There should be a cross section of people there including politicians which should stop the press writing it off as a bunch of 'far right' coked up hooligans. A big attendance at this will be perfect retort to the Hamas march on Remembrance weekend.
